Motto: Be honorable, be Gorean, or be gone.

We are not a public service. We reserve the right to regulate activity in any way and for any reason.

All Free Persons and slaves are welcome within the gates of Baren Touhk, subject to the following rules.

Contents

Authority

  1. Respect for the Administrator and all officials of the city is expected at all times.
  2. No one is allowed to represent any official title or authority that has not been assigned by the Administrator.
  3. The decisions of Baren Touhk staffers are binding.
  4. All staff decisions and city rules may only be appealed to, overruled by, or granted exception by the Administrator.

Courtesy and Respect

  1. Respect for all citizens and property must also be shown at all times.
  2. Abuse of Free Persons or their property will not be tolerated.
  3. Abuse shown toward slaves will not only be unwelcome, but can also lead to confuse and degrade the slaves.

Citizenship

  1. Only one primary account per user is permitted. Additional accounts are permitted only with the Citizen Role-Player (CRP) designation, which is available on request from the city.
  2. New users, free or slave, are designated as Travelers until they complete a New User Orientation (NUO) with a city designee, at which time they become Citizens.
  3. A user's name should be selected for its suitability to Gor. Names with a Gorean sound are generally good for freepersons, and English female names are often attractive for slavegirls. Names of prominent characters from the Gor novels, male or female, are prohibited.
  4. All slaves that have not earned silks are designated as Ubar's Garden Helpers (or "Helpers" for short).
  5. Any citizen absent from the city for more than 90 days will be deemed a Traveler and will need to re-attend a NUO.

Conduct and Roleplay

  1. All Citizens and Travelers are expected to conduct themselves in a Gorean manner within the city.
  2. All roleplay is subject to consent from all parties. Unwelcome roleplay, particular that which is sexual in nature, is prohibited.
  3. The one exception to the above is the service of food and drink by silked slaves, which is required and not subject to the slave's consent.
  4. Real-life emergencies are acceptable as reasons for sudden delays or departures, but may be dealt with if they become excessive.
  5. In public rooms, mild Gorean-type scening between consenting participants is allowed. There is to be no public sexual penetration except in rooms designated as Non-Consent.
  6. A citizen's presence in a room designated as a Non-Consent room implies roleplay consent.
  7. No citizen may kill another, only citizen roleplay characters may die if they consent, and this must occur only in the Arena.
  8. No Free person may offer "protection" to a slave or any official "training" here.

Disputes

  1. Personal disagreements or arguments should be resolved privately by the disputing parties wherever possible.
  2. Be creative and open-minded. Sometimes roleplay can help in resolving disputes.
  3. If necessary, you may ask a staff member to mediate, provided you agree to accept the outcome.

Travelers

  1. Travelers are prohibited in the Home Stone room and all Non-Consent rooms.
  2. Free Travelers may not summon or order slaves to join them in rooms.
  3. Free Travelers are not allowed to take any slave to the furs in any room.

Credits

  1. Credits are the city's representation of a roleplay monetary economy. They have no real-world value.
  2. Citizens begin with a small balance of credits, and earn credits based on city activity and random factors.
  3. City officials may reward or fine citizens with credits at their discretion for exemplary behavior, infractions, or contests.

Collars

  1. All slaves are owned; those that are not personally owned are owned by the city.
  2. All city-owned slaves that have been silked wear a city collar.
  3. Free citizens may collar any slave citizen that consents.
  4. Owners may be sanctioned for their collared slaves' behavior at the discretion of the city.
  5. Any free persons wishing to collar a slave must notify a city staffer and purchase the slave from the city. Roleplay during this process is welcome and encouraged.
  6. A free person who collars a slave without notifying city officials will be billed double the usual asking price for that slave.
  7. The city recognizes ownerships from elsewhere, provided the ownership existed prior to citizenship in Baren Touhk, provided both Owner and slave are Citizens, and provided the ownership is also recorded in Baren Touhk with a collar.
  8. A slave may indicate in the profile that he/she is also owned elsewhere, but doing so does not change Baren Touhk ownership status.
  9. Training collars of any kind are prohibited unless specifically authorized by the city.

Slaves

  1. All slaves are expected ask to enter and leave public rooms, and any Free Person may grant that permission.
  2. The Freepersons Hall is off-limits to all slaves.
  3. Slaves are expected to address free persons by honorific and name, as in "Master X" or "Mistress Y". A slave may use simply "Master" or "Mistress" when addressing their owner, or when it is unambiguous whom the slave is addressing.
  4. Slaves are expected to use third person in the public rooms as it lends to the atmosphere. However, this is primarily for the purpose of Gorean atmosphere, so some leniency for slip-ups and typos is encouraged.
  5. Slaves may not be ordered to enter a Non-Consent room.
  6. A slave's profile may not reference any individual freeperson other than that slave's owner.

Service

  1. All slaves (except for Helpers) are REQUIRED to serve food and drink in city Taverns and Inns to free persons who wish it (called "Service" henceforth).
  2. Service is not consensual or optional. Period. Slaves exist for the pleasure of the Free. You must serve them.
  3. Service is to be performed using the manner and items which are trained by the city. If a slave is asked to serve differently or beyond that, she may do so as a courtesy, but is not to be punished for offering only that in which the city has trained her.
  4. Slaves are expected to appear in person to offer service. Do not ask in a tell if a free person needs service.
  5. Whether service is accepted or declined, a sufficient number of slaves are to remain in the room in case it is required subsequently.
  6. Slaves will be sanctioned severely for avoiding service or failing to notice the presence of those potentially needing it.
  7. The city has heard all possible excuses over the years, so avoid making them and just go offer service.

  2. City-owned silked slaves wear silks of the color they have been recognized with by the city.
